Zone Progress Photos

First of all, it occurs to me that I probably should have posted these with yesterday's post, but I didn't take them until last night. So oh well. Second of all, if you follow me on Facebook, you have already seen this! But since posting it on FB last night I have received a LOT of questions about the specifics of how I've been doing Zone/Paleo, how I've been eating and meal prepping, and where I got my information. So I thought I would do a quick little FAQ! 1. Yes, this really is the difference Read more [...]

30 Days of Zone

Wow, apparently I have been eating zone for 30 days! Yes we have had 2 off-weekends, but overall we have done really well keeping it up. I definitely feel like this has heightened my awareness of eating more complete meals by forcing me to have a protein, carb, and fat component every time I eat. Instead of just snacking mindlessly on cashews or spoonfuls of almond butter, I have to balance a tiny handful of cashews or bite of almond butter with an apple or carrots and a hardboiled egg or some lox. The Bloat

This past weekend The BF and I took a little family vacation to visit my grandmother in Florida for her 90th birthday party. He wore a suit, I wore high heels, and we even bought him a polo with a little palm tree logo on the pocket--how fancy are we? We stayed in a little guest house with 5 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, but no kitchen. Also, the little barrier island neighborhood that my grandmother lives on has several restaurants and a deli, but no grocery store. Needless to say, there was very Read more [...]

My Insta Week

This week has flown by. Duh, it's only Thursday, you are thinking. But tomorrow we are leaving at the butt crack of dawn to go visit my grandmother in Florida for her 90th birthday. She lives on Jupiter Island which is aptly name because it feels like a different planet full of senior citizens wearing white pants and driving golf carts (or is that all of Florida?). But I do kind of love it. Brandon has never met my full extended family so that puts a little extra spin on the weekend, but not as much Read more [...]

Spending Fast Week 1 Recap

The first week of the Spending Fast was surprisingly satisfying. It's hard to say how much I saved over an "average" week but I would say I saved at least $30 or $40 by not going out to eat at all and probably another $20 by not allowing myself any impulse buys throughout the week. Speaking of impulse buys, the Lululemon haul that inspired all of this came in on Saturday and honestly, I was pretty disappointed. I bought 3 pairs of leggings, and none of them are very flattering. The mint capris Read more [...]

Tired Legs

Guys, I have not been this sore in a while. This is the hurts-to-get-dressed, hurts-to-sit-down, hurts-even-more-to-stand-back-up kind of soreness that makes me wonder what the heck I have been doing this whole time. On Saturday we did thrusters for the first time in months. I'm not sure why we never do them, but their sudden arrival in the programming is a pretty sure sign that Fran is coming up soon. My guess is that she'll show up on Wednesday, but I guess we'll have to wait and find out. Read more [...]
